California Real Estate

California Real Estate

A major money maker these days is real estate.  If you have a chunk of extra cash, it is certainly a great investment if you can find the right area.  A sure win now days seems to be California.  Everyone is always flocking there for the year-round sun and beaches.  California real estate is a big money-maker.  If you’re looking to invest in a home to make a nice profit down the road, then certain areas of California should be considered.  The prices always seem to do nothing but rise.

California real estate can be sorted through online.  If you’re moving to a specific area, there are websites to aid you in your search.  You primarily want to find a home that will increase in value no matter where you decide to live.  Finding the best deals on California real estate is easier than ever before.  The majority of us, when searching for a home, look for something that fits our budget, but we also desire a safe neighborhood.  This can often be a difficult task.  Let’s face it, you have to fork out the bucks to be safe these days.  At least in the more urban environments.  The Internet allows you to really narrow down your search for an ideal California home.  This makes it that much easier to stay within your price range.

When a close friend of mine ventured out to California, my first thought was, why?  He was craving the sunny beaches and abundance of amenities.  It wasn’t long after renting a wallet-breaking apartment for several months, that he decided to invest in some fine California real estate.  After doing some searching, he found a small home that fit his price range.  I have to admit, when he first described the home to me, I wasn’t that impressed.  It sounded like a lot of bucks for an average home.  However, after a year had passed, he decided to sell the house.  This is where the payoff was clear.  To my surprise he made a whopping 50,000 dollar profit on the piece of California real estate.  Now that’s an investment worth trying.

Whether you’re looking to purchase a permanent spot in California, or simply doing some investing, it is good to check all the listings available.  With the Internet, this should be no difficult task.  You just may find that diamond in the rough that’s just waiting to become a goldmine.  With California real estate, this is sure plausible.

Redding California

Redding California

What might come to mind when one hears the name of Redding, California is the Monopoly game railroad (and real railroad and lore of yore), Redding Railroad. But Redding California can advertise as being comprised of much more, in the way of people, places, events, accommodations, services, and amenities.

Redding California Real EstateWith a still modest population (of a little over 80,000 in the year 2000), Redding, California thrives on a modest income of, on the average, a little over 34,000 a year. The residents live in homes that are equally low-priced (at about 122,000), and most commute a short distance, staying in town to work in education, health services, and social services; retail; and manufacturing and wholesale.

The people of Redding also provide tourist delights amidst the stunning redwood and mountain scenery in this northern California city: at Turtle Bay, for instance, visitors can enjoy the Sundial Bridge; Visible River Aquarium; Exploration Hall; River Lab; the James and Pamela Koenig Art Gallery; Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp, with its Forest Playground, Forest Amphitheatre, Millhouse, Interpretive Forest, and Maze; historical railroad exhibits; the Monolith; and the Butterfly House. Visitors to Redding, California proper can indulge themselves in almost 200 restaurants of varying cuisines, can frolic with their kids on one of the city’s twenty-three playgrounds and thirty-three public parks, and can, after hiking, biking, and sightseeing, find reasonable, affordable, and beautiful places to stay.

Besides shopping and learning and playing, tourists might also consider checking out the world-renowned Shasta Dam, which, the city commerce division reports, boasts a spillway that is the “world’s highest man-made waterfall…three times the height of Niagara Falls;” is part of Shasta Lake, which holds “enough water to cover the entire state of Connecticut;” and contains as much concrete as would be used to “build a 3-foot sidewalk around the world—at the equator!”

The second sunniest city in the nation, Redding, California yields as much greatness as it attracts…especially in the way of great artists and film stars. When it’s not the film site for movie settings such as those in Fallout 2 and RPG, it is nurturing such greats as PGA golfer Rod Curl, Santa Clara Broncos basketball player Brody Angley, and San Jose State Spartans Ryan Miller (all of whom were born in Redding); is hosting icons like Jixby Phillips (who has been made Redding’s mascot); or is serving as home to such celebrities as Country legend Merle Haggard, pro ball player Chris Woodward, NFL defensive star Jason Sehorn, film producer Kathleen Kennedy, and former O-town member Ashley Parker Angel.

So maybe, when you set out on a modest tour of hot spots, head for a hike near Mount Shasta, or just lounge with the locals in the public pool, you might just get a star experience of Redding, California!

History of California

History of California

California is a state blessed with sunshine and fertile land. It also has a rugged coastline and desert. The living wasn’t always easy here and California history is a tale of violence and the fight for land. Numerous tribal groups of Native Americans inhabited the area, following their way of life along the coast and inland too. European explorers began to take an interest in this part of the New World, mapping it and discovering the resources.

The Spanish had a particular involvement and Spanish Missions were founded in coastal areas from 1769. Spanish rule led to the Mexican War of Independence, which resulted in Mexico, including California, gaining independence from Spain in 1821. The state became a destination for cattle ranchers and trappers from the United States and Canada. The brief Mexican - American War of 1846 - 1848 changed the political make up of California history. The Californian Republic was formed but ceased after the US Navy entered San Francisco Bay and the military occupied the state.

The conflict in California ended when a treaty was signed in 1847. The state was then split into Californian territory and Mexican territory. Another new phase also began at this time when the California Gold Rush began. People from all over the world, in the grip of gold fever, came to get rich. Some of them did but others were disappointed. Prospectors traveled from Europe, Asia and Latin America, in addition to the rest of the United States.

In 1850, the area became an official free state of the United States with Sacramento as its capital. Many people settled in California on completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. The state opened up for everyone, many going into agriculture. Today, farming, particularly citrus fruit production is an important economic activity. Traditional use of the land is combined with the state being at the forefront of advanced technology industries.  Tourism is popular too with many visitors going to Los Angeles and San Francisco to learn about California history.

California is a very cosmopolitan society and draws strength from its different communities. People are outward looking and the rest of the world is caught up in the music and movie industries that are based there. Popular music has a long legacy here, from the surf sound of the Beach Boys to the bands of today. Hollywood films are the most successful export. The movie studios turned Hollywood from a sleepy village to one of the most famous places in California history.

Carlsbad California

Carlsbad California

Carlsbad, California is home to the famous professional skateboarder Tony Hawke, who recently appeared on Celebrity Poker Showdown to benefit his “charity” services which build skate board parks for underprivileged kids and teens (or for kids who have no place to board).

Carlsbad, California
is the birthplace of NASCAR favorite, Brian Simo, who took the Nextel Cup; Cal Poly Mustangs basketball player, Derek Stockalper; and Pennsylvania Quakers basketball player, Eric Osmudsun.

And Carlsbad, California is also home to Shaun White, snow- and skateboarding champion who took the Gold Medal at the Olympics; Guinness World Book record-holder Gary Hardwick, world’s fastest skateboarder; and Brian Simo and Boris Said, NASCAR race car champs driving, respectively, the great Chevrolet and Ford cars for Front Motor Sports and SOBE/No Fear.

It makes sense that Carlsbad has bred and sent out into the world some physically adept action figures—especially skateboarders and drivers of highest acclaim!  It therefore follows logically that with the upward-sized town in southern California come great achievements and in the city exist great attractions for future residents.

For instance, the FOX TV series, Point Pleasant, is filmed in Carlsbad, California.  The rocket research hardware supplier to NASA, Blacksky Corporation, is also housed in Carlsbad.  And Switchfoot band members, Jon Foreman on vocals and guitar and Tim Foreman on bass and backup, make Carlsbad their home (away from home).

With a population in 2000 of close to eighty thousand, the moderately affordable city continues to produce winners of all walks.  Living in homes that average about $330k (as of 2000), and earning incomes of over 65,000 on average, the residents of Carlsbad, California—who are, again on the average, about 38 years of age—are almost all at least high school grads, half of who travel under 30 minutes to work in respectable disciplines and fields in education, health services, social services, professional and scientific services, manufacturing, and retail.

The crime is exceptionally low in Carlsbad (with only four murders in four years, for example); and the weather is as moderate as the local temperament.  Testimony of the quality of the city as a place to be born, to grow up, and/or to retire is all here, in the “trivia” about the great ones who come before.

California Beach Weddings

 California Beach Weddings

Having bonfires on the beach is somewhat of a state passion in California. Everyone does it. Teenagers do it to sneak away with their friends and drink beer. Their parents do it to catch up with old friends or have family outings. It is legal in many California beaches, and tolerated on most of the rest of them. As long as you are willing to keep your bonfire contained and take precautions to make sure that it doesn’t become a runaway forest fire, the Rangers will be happy to let you have it.

Because of the state passion for beaches, California beach weddings are extremely popular. I have been a California beach wedding planner for almost a year, and I have never had more business. It’s funny, but when I was a wedding planner without a specialty, people were hesitant to come to me. Now that I plan California beach weddings almost exclusively, however, people are flocking to me in droves. They assume that, because I specialize in California beach weddings, I am much better at throwing them than anyone else. I let them believe what they want. It gets me lots of business.

The only major drawback to my job is that I have to spend so much time driving. I have become somewhat of an expert in the field. I have been called on to plan Laguna Beach weddings, Santa Cruz weddings, and San Francisco weddings. I have done weddings literally from one end of California all the way to the other. I love doing it. The accommodations on California beaches are great, and they are really reasonable. All I have to do is make the necessary arrangements. California beach campgrounds are always affordable, and beach access in California is ubiquitous and free.

Of course, for California beach weddings it can help to reserve a section of beach, but you can get by with just driving to a remote location. Since I started planning California beach weddings, I have one of the easiest jobs that there is. The catering can be a bit of a pain in the neck, but coming up with the right California beach wedding decorations is always fun and easy. Best of all, California beach weddings always put people in a good mood. There is something about having the ocean, along with good friends and good wine, that makes people feel happy with each other. And making people happy is what my job is all about

California Surfing

California Surfing

California surfing is more than just a recreational pastime for many people – it is an obsession, an institution and a religion. Growing up just outside of the city of San Francisco, I was exposed to this phenomenon at an early age. The Pacific Ocean has always been a favored choice for California surfing, where the waves are perfect, the weather conditions ideal, and the beaches clean and safe.

During my teenage years, it was common to sneak out of classes and go to the beach. We would load the boards up on the roof rack, pack some food and water, grab our wetsuits and head west. If the waves were terrible, not to fret, for we still found ourselves on the fringes of the Pacific, where most people in landlocked states dream of California surfing and never see the ocean.

Some people believe that it is easy to just locate a beach on the coast, throw on your suit and start paddling. Only very ignorant people attempt such a thing. The best waves are known to be off the coast of Santa Cruz and parts of Southern California, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a secluded beach that only you have thought of for surfing. Normally if no one is in the vicinity, the waves are either bad or you have to contend with sharks. Though there will be no signs, it is a safe bet to look elsewhere along the coast if you have never gone California surfing.

If you have discovered a prime location for trying out your board, it is probably normal that you will confront some odd and territorial creatures that are inextricably tied to California surfing: the surfer. These half-men/half-seal creatures will usually appear in groups, and can be friendly or aggressive depending on where you go and how competent you are at the sport. If you understand the unspoken etiquette that exists among these men folk, such as giving space to those around you or not taking someone else’s wave than you may get out alive. However, some of these surfers can spare no time or modicum of courtesy to ask you kindly to get off their beach. They may just surf over your head if you get in the way and let the sharks finish you off.

All in all, California surfing is not something to fear, but something to behold. If you are fortunate enough to attend a California surfing competition, you will see some of the best surfers in the world compete at an outstanding level. For many, surfing is an infinite love affair with the sea, and the reason many guys who would ordinarily hold down regular jobs, drop everything and court it so regularly. Many say that California surfing is the closest thing to spirituality they have found, and it may just be.

San Jose, California

San Jose, California

San Jose, California is right up the street from where I live and there are many things to do in San Jose, California which is in the country.  I could say San Jose, California is right up the road apiece.  And man it is metropolis, antithetical to the lifestyle those of us who need woods and animals and quiet to stay sane.  But the city of San Jose is also one of great appeal to industrious folk, to shoppers and material chasers, and to tourists, and far be it for me to dismiss the value of some of the more unique characteristics.

For example, first, there’s the Winchester Mystery House, which is unique to San Jose, California.  The widow of the man who invented the Winchester rifle (and proceeded to build a fortune on Winchester firearms) was haunted by ghosts of those killed by the Winchester over time, so she consulted with a psychic, or spiritualist, who informed her she needed to build…and never stop building, lest she be plagued by the dead Winchester victims and would die.  Sarah L. Winchester did just that: she hired round-the-clock carpenters and masons and had doors built that don’t open or that go nowhere, windows in walls that have nothing to look at on the other side, and staircases that go into ceilings.  The Winchester Mystery House is open to tours now, though it would take you days to cover every area and oddity in the 160 rooms over some 162 acres.

Another thing that makes San Jose, California unique is its being home to the Tech Museum of Innovation.  This place features a theatre in the round, with a screen that covers the ceiling and makes viewers feel as if they are in the scenes showing, which last time I was there included moon exploration and flight.  Very cool and the only one I have seen since Expo in Canada in 1969.  The Tech Museum… also houses scientific, computerized, and other fascinating gadgets, many of which invite interactivity.  You can get a three-D image of your head, can program Mr. Potato Head in the Silicon Workshop (which will remind you that Silicon Valley is here and leading the world in technologies), or do any number of virtual reality projects where you design and enjoy roller coaster rides, pilot jet skis, or where you can genetically “engineer” or ride space and time machines.

With a population of almost one million, San Jose, California is home to relatively young (and up and coming) people, three-quarters of whom are high-school educated, and almost half of whom have a bachelor’s or higher degree.  The residents make an average of 70 grand a year, live in homes that are estimated at almost 400k, and work in the area where their commute is under a half an hour.

On weekends, there are numerous kinds of leisure and recreation, from the San Jose Flea Market, which is one of the biggest in the U.S., to the games with the renowned San Jose Sharks, from the world-famous Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley and the world’s largest Ancient Egyptian antiquity museum to the shopping malls and restaurants galore, golfing greens, and many botanical gardens and parks.

So while this 230-year-old city is bustling and booming, it also offers a million-plus the quiet and relaxation that is much deserved after contributing to science, technology, and the arts the way it does.

Clinton unveils fiscal plan in Calif. - San Diego Union Tribune- California News

Filed under: California News — admin @ 10:12 am

Reflecting on San Diego's proximity to the border, she also spoke briefly about her goal of comprehensive immigration reform, which includes stronger border enforcement and a process for people to become legal residents and eventually U. Clinton chose to deliver her economic address in California rather than one of the more immediate nomination battlegrounds, Nevada or South Carolina, because the state has been hit with some of the nation's highest foreclosure rates. But with the credit and mortgage crisis, along with rising gas prices, health insurance and college tuition costs, the issue has soared to the top of the campaign agenda in recent weeks. Edwards said the $25 billion would help states cover unemployment and health insurance costs for workers who lose their jobs, create a fund to help families avoid home foreclosures and invest in developing clean energy sources to create jobs. If the $40 billion tax cut becomes necessary, Clinton said, she would pay for it by repealing the portion of President Bush's tax cut that goes to wealthy Americans – the favorite target of Democratic presidential candidates to pay for their wish lists. It’s also nice to be with so many people who care so deeply about the future of this country,” Hillary Rodham Clinton said at last night’s packed fundraiser in Bonita, where she also spoke about her goal of comprehensive immigration reform. Hollywood California

Hollywood California is like many great cities throughout the whole entire world.  It is a place that many people would like to visit, but few would like to go and live in.  If you do not believe me try spending a month in Hollywood California.  I have lived in Hollywood California for several years now, so I know just what I am talking about, and that is no lie.  The thing about Hollywood California, is that it is the center of almost everything, but there is no center to it itself.  It is all one vast smoggy sprawl spread all over Southern California.  There is no place to walk around, no good public transit, and no downtown even.  Apartments in Hollywood California are outrageous, and even to stay in a hotel in hollywood california for just a few weeks can be a huge financial drain for just about anyone there is.

That does not mean that Hollywood California does not have its thrills.  It really does, and more than just a few.  For example, you can take a tour of the houses of the stars, and see all kinds of sites and hear all kinds of sounds.  If you are interested in movies, Hollywood California it is the place to be even more than New York City.  And of course there are all kinds of wonderful night clubs to see in Hollywood California, because in fact, there is no shortage of the night life in Hollywood, Los Angeles, or really anywhere around that area.  It all makes a great vacation spot in spite of the smog.  There are even good beaches around, and if you go early in the year, they should not be too crowded. But before you move to Hollywood California, even if you are going there to make your career in film or music, you should really spend a month or two there just to see if you can handle it.

Of course while you are down in Southern California, you might want to think about taking a trip to Disneyland.  I know that most people go there when their kids, but Hollywood California is just a hop skip and a jump away, and so it makes a lot of sense to go down there when it is so convenient.  There are plenty of things for adults to do, as well as children, so I think you should find it to be a fun time.

Obama spot kicks off California ad wars - Los Angeles Times(California News)

Filed under: California News — admin @ 9:00 am

And it is forever the fault of the Clintons, that the Supreme Court was tilted to the far right because their personal decisions made it impossible for a Democrat to be elected in 2000. Let him hit hard on a third theme that in bad economic times we must all pull together, put people back to work, building for the future, pouring our resources of money and manpower into rebuilding America, investing in new technologies and infrastructure to meet the enormous challenge of pollution-caused climate change. The speeches are splendid, but he also needs to talk to us as intimately as he would talk to his family and close friends — quietly, but intently, emotionally Let him be seen as if he were actually sitting down with us and sharing with us his vision, his confidence, and his passionate commitment to lead major change, major reform, a better America. Hired by The Times in 1989, he has worked in its Washington bureau since 1996 — a perch providing him a close-up view of the impeachment of President Clinton, the government’s response to 9/11 and the day-to-day wrangling of the two major parties.
